Labor Day

Published by Scott on

Labor Day falls on a Tuesday this year, making for a lovely four day weekend. The last major holiday of the summer is Labor Day. A day set aside for the common working man to have a day away from work.

Labor Day creates more work for the working man. Just the opposite of what the holiday represents. Those celebrating the holiday require supplies and services, causing more work for the working man. In my opinion, the only people that benefit from the day are government employees that have a 9 to 5 workday. So much for the holidays.

Is Labor Day a Public Holiday?

Labor Day is a public holiday. It is a day off for the general population, schools and most businesses are closed.

Celebrate Labor Day

Labor Day is a day of rest or the last chance for many people to go on trips before the summer ends. For students, it is the last chance to organize parties before school starts again. In some neighborhoods, people organize fireworks displays, barbecues and public arts or sports events. The American football season starts on or around Labor Day and many teams play their first game of the season during Labor Day weekend.
