There’s been a lot going on in my life the past couple of days. I decided that I wanted to get an SSL certificate for my website. After searching online I found a certificate that was very inexpensive, and I paid for it for 2 years. I called GoDaddy and asked them if they could incorporate my certificate with my website hosting on their servers. I was told that I could not. After further conversation I decided that it was time to move to a new hosting service. I had been having trouble with GoDaddy for many years so the moving began.
There were always problems of one sort or another with my website. GoDaddy’s dedicated WordPress hosting proved to be inadequate. I even rebuilt my website from scratch. After all that work, there was no difference with the errors I was receiving on my GoDaddy WordPress site.
Moving to New Hosting
I have many new service providers, the first one being CloudFlare. CloudFlare is a utility service that provides analytics and other useful information. My DNS record is on EasyWP. Next, I have a site called Namecheap. Namecheap is the site where I bought my SSL certificate and a temporary mailbox for my domain name newman50.com. I think there may be another one, but I can’t remember what it is right now.
After I joined all the previously mentioned websites, it was time to move my word press data. Moving the data was not as straightforward as I thought it would be. Getting my website up and running took most of the day yesterday. I tried 2 or 3 times to import the data from my previous website. But there were always crippling errors that shutdown WordPress. Eventually, I deleted my WordPress site from the new server. Next, I created a new website and imported the information in a more logical manner. When I completed the fresh install everything was finally perfect. There was no need to correct anything.
There was 1 final problem. After trying for several hours, I asked for help in an online chat. The chat took a very long time, the technician at the other end finally got my certificate installed and the job of moving my website was complete.
I have moved my website many times over the years. Some hosting services are better than others. I decided on GoDaddy because that is where I had purchased my domains. Over the years with GoDaddy, I have had several problems I have documented on this website.
